ROLL, SAY, KEEP WORD GAME

Happy Sunday everyone!

I am taking a break from cutting laminating...Aagghhh. My hand is so sore. Do you all dislike cutting laminating as much as I do? Luckily, I was able to recruit my husband to help by bribing him with a grilled cheese sandwich. He looks so cute, sitting in our den watching television and cutting laminating! I am so lucky!

Well, I made it through my first week back at school and it was great! It was so nice to see all my firsties and see how happy they  were to see me! We got right back into our daily routines, almost as if we had never left. Almost!

I wanted to share a fun word game that my firsties occasionally play during word work to assist them with their basic sight word skills. It is called Roll, Say, Keep. It is a dice game that requires players to roll the die, select the appropriately numbered card (that matches the dots on the die) and say the basic sight word, and if they are correct they get to keep the card. Easy peasy! I colour code my cards and number the back so each colour/number card corresponds with a side on the die. It can be easily differeniated for various academic levels by increasing the difficulty of the words. My firsties love the game! Here are some pictures of how it looks!

I am off to take my dog, Della, to the local off-leash dog park and make homemade lasagna for supper! The Golden Globes are on tonight! Enjoy!
